As Autumn comes to a close and the last of the red and orange leaves cling to the vines, the Barossa is slowly stretching it’s arms out wide as even more of our favourite local businesses start to re-open. Although not yet back to full capacity many venues can now have up to ten people inside and ten people outside allowing them to get back to what they do best.
This week I actually sat inside one of my favourite Cafe’s and had lunch and a coffee. And it was amazing!  Such a simple pleasure so savoured after all these months of not being able to do this, it was so exciting! What a lovely experience to see the owners and staff welcoming us back with such grateful smiles.

I’m so pleased to bring you this weeks update of what is happening in the Barossa right now:

What to eat….
  • Red Door Espresso is open for dining in with 10 people inside and ten people outside in the courtyard for the best coffee, casual and delicious meals and cakes to make you drool….
  • FINO at Seppeltsfield is back!  Open Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June with their $75 pp FINO at home menu, at their home!  With delicious food like their FINO bread, Beetroots Vache curd & crisp bread, Bacon broth & chicken tortellini, Lamb or Wintergreens pie with mash and Crema Catalina for dessert. 2 sittings for dining in  – Limited spaces, Bookings essential. Fino at home takeaway still available to pickup on Fridays.
  • Musque Food & Wine – Tanunda – are still offering their Epic Pandemic Takeaway menu but are also now open for dining. Limited spaces and their Sunday dinner 5 dish tasting menu sounds pretty delicious – take a look at the photo below!
  • Vino Lokal – Tanunda are now open for lunch and dinner Tuesday – Sunday at varied times until they find their regular rythm again – take a look at the photo below for details or follow them on instagram.
  • Three75 Bar + Kitchen are still offering their delectable takeaway menu and this weeks Friday test Kitchen creation – the juicy Brisket Roll looks sooo mouth wateringly good. Follow them on insta for the latest menu.
  • Casa Carboni Italian Enoteca – Angaston. Their famed authentic Italian Wine Bar will be re-opening this week. Able to seat 10 guests inside for the evenings but bookings are essential. Chef Matteo will be preparing a delicious tasting menu of 3 shared entrees, fresh pasta, dessert and coffee for $65 pp.
  • Browns Barossa Gourmet Donuts – Tanunda. If you love more than an average donut this is the place you need to stop ! (on Saturday only at the moment from 9am until sold out) With delights such as Nutella stuffed, Moussey McMousseface, custard filled other delicious creations. As they put it these “soft fluffy brioche pillows” are sure to put a smile on your face. Be quick though because they sell out fast !

What to drink…
  • Seppeltsfield Road Distillers our favourite GIN distillery (their Shiraz Gin is a must try) are now open for tastings, platters and cocktails! Seated tasting experiences, food and drinks are now available on site from Friday May 29th with seating available inside and outside on the deck, and they are so excited to welcome everyone back. Book ahead to ensure a table.
  • Pindarie wines have been busy baking and cooking to prepare for their re-opening on Friday 29th May. The fires will be roaring, wine will be flowing and the smell of their famously fresh baked pies will fill the air. Restricted numbers so book this one as well.
  • Izway wines are re-opening their cellar door from Thursday – Sunday 11am – 5pm and Mon-Wed by appt only. Capacity is limited so bookings is also recommended.
  • Yelland and Papps Wines – this quaint little cellar door are open again for their personalised private tasting experience hosted in their beautiful home and gardens. Phone or email them to book.
  • First Drop Wines are back with “safe times, responsible wines and distanced fun” with the re-opening of their “Home of the Brave” Cellar door and Tapas
  • Two Hands Wines  Re-opening their cellar door in Marananga from June 1st for tasting, wine purchases and plenty of good reasons on why you should drink wine!
  • Hart of the Barossa  The oldest certified organic vineyard in the Barossa, these artisan wine makers strive to craft the purest wine. Their tasting shed will re-open every Friday and Saturday for the Farm-gate grape to glass wine tasting experience from 11-4. 10 wine lovers in side and 10 alfresco so book ahead and try something unique.

Other things to do…
  • Barossa Farmers Market  always a go to for locals and if you haven’t been it’s a must for the best and freshest local produce and a killer bacon and egg roll with local coffee. Saturdays from 7.30-11.30am.
  • Barossa Valley Cheese Co  have re-opened their cheese room for cheese experiences and take home cheese, the best in the Barossa! (Bookings essential for experiences)
  • Walks through Kaiser Stuhl or Steingarten Conservation Parks, a visit to Menglers Hill Lookout or a historic stop at Luhr’s Cottage are all still a perfect way to enjoy some fresh air.
  • There are plenty of shops opening again in the towns of Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston if you like to wander and indulge in some retail therapy.
  • The Barossa Visitors Centre is also a great place to stop and find out what else is on and take in some local culture.
